No delay in California's fight against global warming
Some Republicans in the Legislature are using the budget
deficit to try to gut our environmental protections. They want to delay cutting
global warming pollution another year, pushing back our historic plan to fight
global warming. Here's what the LA
Times said about it: "GOP
lawmakers hope to use their leverage over the state budget, which cannot pass
without some of their votes, to roll back landmark policies implemented by
Democrats and the governor. Among them are curbs on greenhouse gas emissions,
regulations banning the dirtiest diesel engines and rules dictating when
employers must provide lunch breaks for workers."
"None
of those laws has any direct connection to the state budget; changing them will
do nothing to close California's
$15.2-billion deficit."
We need to let our legislators know that they can't use the
budget deficit to push back our historic plan to fight global warming by
delaying action another year.
Can you e-mail your state lawmakers right now to make sure
our opponents don't get any traction in their proposal to stall California's fight
against global warming?
